Two programmes by Barcelona Activa create nearly 900 new jobs

A special call for comprehensive projects with employment contracts (PIC) has helped create 422 jobs since May, through a combination of work experience and training for people with difficulties finding work. A further 450 jobs have been created through the Crea Feina Plus Barcelona 2021 programme, which provides subsidies of up to 6,000 euros for companies fostering employment. Both measures are promoted by the Economic Response Centre (CECORE).

With an overall budget of nearly 5,000 euros, the PIC projects prioritised sectors which drive the economic recovery, such as the blue economy, 4.0 industry, sport, cultural industries, the green economy, ICT, tourism and local commerce. The plans prioritised people with the most difficulties in finding work, such as women (57%) and the over-44s (55%).

These groups were also given priority by the programme Crea Feina Plus Barcelona 2021, with even higher percentages in the case of women (62%). Aimed at unemployed people officially residing in the city, this programme helped its users find work in sectors such as commerce (21%) and ICTs (14%), with subsidies for companies and the self-employed needing to take on staff. In this case the overall budget was 2.6 million euros.

Simplified procedures

The application process was simplified to make it easier for companies to take part in the programme, with requisites set out and procedures conducted online via the programme website.
