The programme ‘El Rec es mou’ organises recreational activities for all the family, through until October.

The goal is to give the space dignity, recover its historical memory and promote the sort of use among local people which guarantees respect towards this natural environment, where anti-social attitudes or vandalism sometimes occur.

Improvements to the area

  • Replacement of vegetation which has been lost or damaged over time.
  • Installation of protective barriers to prevent access to some points along the channel.

Historical space

The Rec Comtal was built as a water supply channel in the 10th century and used for a thousand years to power mills, eventually also supplying the textile factories in Sant Andreu de Palomar.

The remains of part of its 12-kilometre route can be found at the archaeological site in El Born CCM.
