Barcelona Poesia is being held in the city from 13 to 18 October and this year pays homage to major figures in poetry, such as Josep Carner, Maria Antònia Salvà, Joan Perucho, Jacint Verdaguer, Federico García Lorca, Felícia Fuster, Vicent Andrés Estellés and Pep Sales.

The festival will mainly take place in open spaces where audience numbers can be controlled, such as the interior garden at the Casa de la Misericòrdia, the foyer at the Museu Frederic Marès and the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB).

This is an international and multi-disciplinary poetry festival, with over 150 participants, including poets, musicians, creators and readers. It is also a diverse festival with more than 27 activities, including recitals, concerts, dance displays, videos, illustration and round tables.

Enric Casasses, Tarta Relena, Jorge Riechmann, Col·lectiu Tinta Negra, Teresa Pascual, Laura Sam, Víctor Sunyol, Laia Carbonell, Mariola Membrives and Seward are just some of those taking part in this edition.

Access to venues is through advanced bookings. Tickets to attend the activities can be reserved as from 5 October.

Links with the Biennial of Thought

The changes to the festival dates means that Barcelona Poesia now coincides with the ‘Open City’ Biennial of Thought. The two events will share the same opening and closing activities, organised jointly with the CCCB and inviting reflection on the future through different languages.

Jocs Florals 2020

The Saló de Cent hall will be hosting the ceremony for one of the oldest awards in the city on Wednesday 14 October (6 pm), the Premi de Poesia Jocs Florals de Barcelona. The winner of the last edition of this creative writing award was Txema Martínez, with the poem Maria.
