Barcelona Energia drops its electricity prices

In a move to adapt its pricing to the needs of the post-Covid scenario, Barcelona Energia will be discounting its fixed-rate prices by 8% on average, representing an annual saving of between 40 and 60 euros on bills. The public energy distributor for the Barcelona metropolitan area provides electricity for over 1,800 users and is now offering a new tariff for SMEs.

The discounts on electricity bills comes in addition to the postponement to the payment of invoices from the second quarter of 2020, corresponding to the period of the Covid-19 health crisis. Barcelona Energia, the metropolitan energy distributor, has created a new tariff aimed at the self-employed and SMEs, as well as an advice service to help them save energy. The main way to contract the new pricing is via the website for Barcelona Energia.

Barcelona Energia started providing services for the general public on 1 January 2019. The metropolitan power operator not only buys and sells energy, but is also committed to renewables, offering a local and personalised advice service, using transparent management systems, backing innovation, encouraging self-consumption and driving citizen participation through the platform Decidim Barcelona Energia.
