Opposition proposals from the full council meeting of July 2020

The full council meeting for July approved three opposition proposals, one calling for negotiations with various sectors to address private mobility in the city and others to condemn the spying on various politicians and to call for investigations to be made.

The Cs municipal group put forward a proposition calling on the municipal government to end traffic restrictions in Via Laietana at the weekends. The proposal was rejected, with JxCat, Cs, the PP and BCN Canvi voting in favour of it and BComú and the PSC voting against it, while ERC abstained.

The proposal from the PP called for a negotiating table to be set up with commerce, hospitality and other sectors to address the limitations on private mobility in the city. The proposal was approved with favourable votes from ERC, JxCat, Cs, the PP and BCN Canvi, while BComú and the PSC abstained.

Barcelona pel Canvi called for the Full Council to study the Help to Buy model and promote the creation of a guarantor plan for up to 95% of funding for mortgages for young people, guaranteeing them access to housing. The proposal was rejected, with Cs, the PP and BCN Canvi voting in favour, while ERC, BComú and the PSC voted against it and JxCat abstained.

ERC and JxCat presented two proposals for an institutional declaration condemning the communication interventions, IT attacks and spying on various Catalan politicians, and calling on the Spanish government and state prosecutor to open investigations.

The two proposals were voted on separately and approved with the same results in each case, with ERC, BComú and JxCat voting in favour, the PSC, the PP and BCN Canvi voting against and Cs abstaining.
