The remodelled building was built in 1982 and was originally the home of the El Carmel Promotion Agency, later being used as the street cleaning depot. The renovation project meant redistributing the whole interior into two independent floors. The refurbishment required an investment of 1.9 million euros and revamped 1,043 square metres of floor space.

The new community centre includes a function room, a room with different compartments, a meeting room, offices, changing rooms and storage space. The first floor, where the Fundació ADSIS has preference, includes classrooms, offices and a kitchen.

The organisations based at the new centre are: ADSIS, the Pla de Dinamització Comunitari Carmel Amunt, the Coordinadora d’Entitats del Carmel, 40′ parriba 40′ pabajo, Carmel Comerç, Círculo de Cultura Sinatrahem, Grup Scout Makarenko and Grupo Dance.

The new facility is the fifth community centre in the district of Horta-Guinardó. The goal of the centres is to provide spaces for gathering, interacting, creating and exchanging, with a programme of socio-educational activities, leisure, training and socio-cultural initiatives which promote citizen participation.
