New work-life balance programme for families of people with disabilities
Agreement with Dincat to promote the “Conciliació Familiar” project to provide support for families in the care of people with disabilities, offering spaces for family work-life balance and better quality of life. The municipal investment through the Institute for People with Disabilities is 300,000 euros through to the end of 2025, with the possibility of a maximum of a year’s extension. The project will reach 353 families.
The project offers a support staff category and a community stay category and will be managed by Dincat, the federation that brings together nearly 300 organisations working in the area of intellectual disabilities and multiple disabilities. The support category offers quality assistance inside and outside the family home, while the second category offers overnight stays in community environments for people with disabilities, with quality leisure and recreation options.
The support staff category is expected to help 136 families, while the community stay category should help 217 families, meaning the project will reach 353 families in all.
The aim of the programme is to identify situations where people are overburdened due to stress, exhaustion or anxiety, particularly when there is a change of professional or when support hours have been used up. Access to the labour market will also be facilitated for carers who want to work, increase the social recognition of care work, foster men’s participation in these tasks and improve the economic situation of families.
