Congress on digital skills in times of the pandemic

The second edition of the digital skills congress ‘Digital citizens in times of the pandemic’ will bring together experts to look at digital skills and abilities in the context of the current pandemic, which has seen numerous activities and a significant volume of interaction shift to online environments. The congress will be held virtually on 18 February.

The congress is being organised in three sections and will discuss key aspects in the development of digitally empowered citizens:

  • Frameworks for digital skills: various researchers and professors will be discussing “The European digital skills framework for citizens (DigComp), recent developments and future perspectives” and “New skills structure for the ACTIC”.
  • The digital divide and inequalities: this block offers the talks “Inequalities and digital emergency, the phenomenon of the digital divide”, “The digital divide in the city of Barcelona 2020” and “A study of the digital divide in Catalonia”.
  • Welfare and digital security: this block looks at the topics of “Education to combat disinformation”, “Digital citizen curriculum: fostering the responsible, ethical and creative use of ICT” and “eduCAC, educating in communication in a world of screens”.

The congress also includes practical workshops and tech resources to help lead this change.

The congress is being organised by the Catalan government’s Ministry for Digital Policy and Public Administration; the City Council’s local economic development agency, Barcelona Activa; the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), and Blanquerna – Universitat Ramon Llull, with collaboration from the Eurecat tech centre and Mobile World Capital Barcelona.
