As from 28 October, people using bike and moped sharing services in the city can check the location and find other information on all licensed vehicles in Barcelona.

There are fourteen operating companies, all integrated into Smou, the only app offering real time information on the 9,748 bikes and electric mopeds.

The inclusion of this information means app users (with or without user profiles) can check the exact location of all shared mobility vehicles on a map or just select the ones of interest to them. When they exit the app, the information will be stored to help them personalise their favourite services at any time.

What is Smou?

Smou is the Barcelona mobility app which brings together the various personal mobility services in a secure and user-friendly space, providing easy access to all information so that people can plan their journeys.

Smou already offered a single app for payment of blue and green-zone parking in Barcelona and the metropolitan area, automatic number-plate recognition and opening of barriers at BSM car parks, reservations and recharging using the Endolla Barcelona network and access to the Bicing service. As from today, the app also includes the bike sharing and moped sharing services provided by different private operators with current licences in the city of Barcelona.

The Councillor for Mobility, Rosa Alarcón, affirmed that “this integration improves the service experience for people and makes it easier to access shared mobility, through the practical and efficient tool that is Smou”. Alarcón also noted that “the promotion of vehicle sharing is precisely one the of areas of work included in the new Urban Mobility Plan 20204”.
