This year’s ceremony saw 38 medals of merit awarded in recognition of collaboration with the City Police in the response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Distinctions were awarded to different corps and security forces, emergency services, social services, professional groups and other municipal services and social entities.

Four medals of special merit were also awarded: one to the former head of the City Police for a career in the corps spanning over forty years; two to municipal workers in recognition of their bravery and determination, which allowed for the detention of the aggressor who mortally wounded their workmate David Caminada, and a posthumous medal of merit for the municipal worker David Caminada, from the digital content team under the Directorate for Communication at Barcelona City Council.

Twelve plaques were also awarded in recognition of jurists and security and emergency corps.
