New recruitment process for the City Police launched

This is the biggest recruitment process for this term of office, with 241 posts as police officers to be filled. The intake will bring the number of police officers in the city to 3,500 next year, in line with one of the most important commitments by the municipal government.

Ajuntament de Barcelona

The application period for the new recruitment process by the City Police opens today, 24 February, and will conclude on 15 March.

The main new aspect to this call is that candidates who get through the recruitment process and are in the 241 top places will cover the needs of the corps for 2022 and 2023 as well.

This is also the first time that the number of languages that candidates can take exams in has been broadened. Previously applicants could score points for a knowledge of English, Urdu, Arabic or Chinese. On this occasion, German, French and Italian have also been included.

In terms of women’s presence in the corps, this call maintains the existing requisites to increase the number of women officers through a quota of 40% (the City Police was the first security corps to include this criterion).

Information sessions

In a measure to promote the recruitment process and the requisites for entering the corps, a series of information sessions also starts today and will be given by members of the corps. The sessions scheduled so far are:

  • 24 February, at 6 pm, at the Federació d’entitats llatinoamericanes de Catalunya (live via their Facebook profile)
  • 7 March, at 11 am, at the Cibernàrium operated by Barcelona Activa (link to live broadcast to appear soon)
  • 14 March, at 5 pm, live from the City Police Instagram profile.
