Taking the smart city to the people with Smart City WeekSmart City Week is on from 5 to 11 November and turns the city’s neighbourhoods into places for dialogue, reflection and learning by discussing the challenges, limits and opportunities offered by smart cities. The programme includes over fifty activities around the city’s ten districts, with lectures, debates, itineraries, guided tours and workshops for all the family.
The week is about experimenting and reflecting on the connections between people, technology and cities, enabling the content of the Smart City Expo World Congress to have a positive social return for citizens.
The programme for Smart City Week is based around four main themes which represent the links between people and their surroundings: home, the neighbourhood, the city and the world. Each theme will provide a common thread for debates on technology applications in fields such as housing, mobility and commerce.
The opening ceremony for the week is on 5 November in the afternoon and coincides with the official inauguration of Ca l’Alier, Barcelona’s new urban innovation centre. A substantial number of activities for Smart City Week will take place at the new facility.
