Staff at the Barcelona Social Emergency and Urgent Care Centre (CUESB) handle any sort of social emergency at any time of day or night, 365 days a year. They form part of the social services which provide support for people in times of difficulty. This video explains a day in the life of these emergency teams in Barcelona.

The team from the CUESB is made up of social workers, psychologists and specialists in logistical intervention. They work in shifts, providing permanent care for people and other services from the administrations, with a fleet of eight vehicles to get around as required.

The team provides support for people affected by a sudden situation and who require immediate psycho-social support in Barcelona and other municipalities in the metropolitan area. They also complement the work of other social services centres supporting people at risk of or affected by social emergencies, such as loss of housing, lack of food resources, mistreatment through sexist violence or a lack of care for senior citizens.

Situations requiring ongoing support are referred to the corresponding basic or specialist services.
