More school meal grants for the 2020-2021 school yearFamilies with children and youth, from P3 up to their fourth year at compulsory secondary school (ESO) can already apply for aid school meal grants. They have two periods to do that in: the first ends on 9 July and the second will remain open from 7 to 20 September.
School meal grants are support tools for vulnerable groups and ensure that children and young people make a quality meal every day and enjoy school meal times. To cover any possible unexpected cases, once the June and September periods end a new application period will be established.
For the 2020-2021 school year ordinary school meal grants will increase to 70% of the maximum daily amount of the grant while the extra aid will rise to 100%, a total of 6.33 euros a day. All students under the Plan against Segregation will benefit from this extra aid.
This year will also see an increase in the income threshold for eligibility in receiving school meal grants, so that more families will be able to benefit from it.
