Barcelona’s half marathon is the biggest in Spain and the second biggest in Europe.

Besides this historic participation figure, this year’s event also stands out for its high volume of international runners, accounting for 40% of the total and including 98 nationalities. Women’s participation is also notable, with a record 9,800 female runners making up 35% of the field. In order to offer a better service to participants and manage this year’s high volume of runners more efficiently, the start line has been switched to Passeig de Picasso, while the finish line remains in Passeig de Pujades.

From a sports perspective, the eDreams Barcelona Half Marathon by Brooks 2024 offers a top-class line-up. In the men’s category, the favourite is Kenya’s Kibiwott Kandia, who boasts the second fastest half marathon time (57 minutes 32 seconds). In the women’s event, the world half marathon champion Kenya’s Ruth Chepngetich is the favourite to beat the record time for this event, which currently stands at 1 hour 4 minutes 37 seconds.

Registration to take part in the eDreams Barcelona Half Marathon by Brooks 2024 is now full, and for the Zurich Barcelona Marathon 2024, on 10 March, over 17,000 number bibs have already been sold. The organisers of the marathon are aiming to match the current participation record for the event, which came in 2016 when 20,385 number bibs were sold.
