Eixample is about to go ahead with one of the most important changes it has seen in the last few decades Work will start around the middle of this year on transforming part of C/ Consell de Cent, C/ Rocafort, C/ Comte Borrell and C/ Girona into green hubs. What is more, four large squares will also be created, each measuring around 2,000 square metres, at the junctions between these green hubs (Consell de Cent with Rocafort, Comte Borrell, Enric Granados and Girona). This transformation will be complete in the first quarter of 2023.

Barcelona City Council has created a large-format exhibition in the Fossat del Mercat de Sant Antoni space to show citizens what these new green hubs and square in Eixample will be like. Thanks to a few big structures and virtual images, local residents will be able to see what these spaces will be like once the work has finished.

The exhibition also includes a large model of the city of Barcelona, on which an audio-visual is to be projected explaining how urban planning in Eixample has evolved from its beginnings to the present.

The exhibition, what is more, is being held in the Fossat del Mercat de Sant Antoni space reclaimed by citizens in the middle of the Sant Antoni superblock, one of the first examples of Barcelona’s new urban model now taking shape. It will be on Every day from 28 May, Mondays to Saturdays, from 10 am to 8 pm; and on Sundays, from 10 am to 2 pm
