The project for the traffic-calmed street responds to a demand from two schools in the area and comes as part of the ‘Protegim les escoles’ programme to transform areas around schools into healthier places.

The project will affect the use of the lane on the side of the street nearest the Llobregat river.

• At the block by the Model prison building, where the Escola Xirinacs is located and where the Escola Entença will provisionally be located during the next school year, the pavement will be widened, and a fence and urban furniture added.
• A traffic lane will be reserved for service vehicles along the rest of the section, with the following also added:
  • 38 new parking spaces for bicycles.
  • 39 new parking spaces for motorcycles.
  • 4 new loading/unloading areas.

The goal of the ‘Protegim les escoles’ programme is to transform the areas around the entrances of 200 hundred schools between now and 2023, making them more pleasant. Work is planned at ten other schools in October.
