On Sunday, 19 September, Alejandro Rodriguez Pritchard (00:30:32) and Cristina Silva Feliu (00:34:48)
were the absolute winners of the 43rd La Mercè
Fun Run. Starting and finishing at Avinguda Maria Cristina, and with a 10 kilometre route, the
race passed by some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. They were joined
on the men’s and women’s podiums by Miguel Risco Bermejo and Marc Cunyat Carballal, and
Berta Cabanas Tirapu and Rebeca Súarez González, respectively.

The race, which is part of the “La Mercè més esportiva” programme of events
put forward by Barcelona City Council, went ahead in line with all the
safety and prevention protocols, and had 6,000 participants in its in-person event and over 400 in the virtual version, in this case on free routes of 5 or 10 kilometres. At the same time,
the adapted 2 kilometre race was held, designed for people with intellectual
disabilities or reduced mobility, thus guaranteeing a completely inclusive race,
which everybody can enjoy.

The awards ceremony was attended by the First Deputy Mayor, Jaume
Collboni, and the Councillor for Sports, David Escudé, who expressed his satisfaction that
“after a very complicated year and a half, with many limitations, we sports lovers
are beginning to look to the future with excitement. This La Mercè Fun Run proves that, with
responsibility and safety, we can gradually resume the sporting activity that has always
distinguished our city as a benchmark”.
