The musical and educational concert Canta gran!, organised every year by the City Council and the Education Service at L’Auditori de Barcelona, offered a concert this evening by remembering songs from all the editions held to date, such as Bella ciao, Flor de nit, Marieta de l’ull viu and En clau d’amor. The singers and the audience thus revisited the history of the project by singing and enjoying a very special occasion.

Despite the health situation, the desire was to go ahead with the twentieth anniversary of the concert, which traditionally takes place at Christmas. To make this possible, full health and protection measures were adopted, rehearsals were held virtually and the singers assembled for the first time at the final rehearsal.

The Canta gran! programme ties in with the promotion of empowerment and active ageing, helping elderly people to fully take part in society and for their worth to play its part. Singing, and singing as a group, brings physical and psychological benefits, acts as a tool for social participation, improvement and maintenance of health and personal development, thanks to the pursuit of artistic activity.
