The Earth Fair 2018 moves to Nou Barris

Green culture and local produce take centre stage in the city for the Earth Fair 2018, with activities for all the family on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 April. The 23rd edition of the fair is being organised in Nou Barris for the first time, a district with deep-rooted street culture and a strong pursuit of ecology.

VIDEO. Janet Sanz: “In moving to Nou Barris, the Earth Fair’s values can be linked to a leading district in social movement and commitment to sustainability and ecologism”.

A sizeable area of 6 hectares in the Parc Central de Nou Barris, the Parc Tecnològic and the District Office, with good public transport connections and all necessary services on hand, will host the Earth Fair 2018.

The decision to move the fair, held until now in Passeig de Lluís Companys and the Parc de la Ciutadella, responds to the will to boost neighbourhood life and bring city events closer to local residents.

The fair joins other important activities which have moved to Nou Barris, such as the classical music section for La Mercè and the SonarKids festival, strengthening the district as a leading space for culture in the city.

A celebration for all the family

The Earth Fair has been going for 23 years and coincides with Earth Day (22 April) to promote healthy and sustainable environmental habits, local and organic produce and the local economy.

The event is a festive meeting point for all the family, where the farmers’ market stands out and features over a hundred local producers offering ecological produce. Similarly, the artisan market features a hundred solidarity associations and over two hundred stalls with craft creations and dishes from around the world, as well as activities, conferences and workshops on health environmental education, responsible consumption and more.

The Earth Fair is organised by the Associació Dia de la Terra – Catalunya. For full information click here.
