As is now the tradition, the run’s circuit will consist of a nearly one-kilometre route, crossing the Modernista de Sant Pau complex, and finishing at the start line.

The Hospital de Sant Pau Science Fun Run was created in 1989 with the aim of researching the effects of sport on health, by conducting several studies during the race, and of raising awareness among the population of the benefits and need for pursuing physical activity to lead an active and healthy life.

Thanks to the event’s 33 editions and the more than twenty research projects carried out, scientists have reached the conclusion that sport is an advisable activity for everyone to take up, whether or not they have an illness, so long as it is adapted to their needs and conditions.

It has been shown, more specifically, that regular exercise has no negative effects on patients with clinically stabilised heart conditions: diabetes type II, hypertension and other metabolic-type changes such as hypercholesterolaemia. The last few editions have even seen individuals with a form of heart disease and undergoing a rehabilitation programme taking part.
