The commissioners and the joint committee, made up of Barcelona City Council, the Government of Catalonia and Barcelona Provincial Council, presented a report on the work carried out on possible locations for the future extension to the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona.

Presented by the commissioners Ramon Sanabria and Ramon Canal, the report points to eight possible sites for the future extension to the hospital, a demand which goes back nearly twenty years. The study also includes key aspects such as the desired model for the new centre, according to the needs established by the Catalan Health Service and the hospital itself. It also takes into consideration current trends on a global scale in terms of the location of new hospitals.

In this vein, an agreement has been made to create a cross-cutting working group by the end of this year, with representatives from the university of Barcelona (UB) and the hospital itself. The group will go into greater detail on the aspects pointed to in the report and draft a detailed study on the best location for the extended centre.
