The Municipal Institute for Tax brings to light road tax fraud
The Municipal Institute for Tax increased settled revenue from the road tax by 119,000 euros to reach 3.5 million thanks to tax inspections, which allowed for the regularisation of companies with relocated vehicle fleets. Electronic notifications represent 29% of all notifications and meant a saving of 2.2 million euros.

The annual report for the Municipal Institute for Tax for 2024, tasked with managing, collecting and inspecting taxes, shows that the overall figure for settled revenue rose by 1.4% in the last year. The institute manages 43% of municipal revenue, a total of 1,549,653 euros. Property tax accounts for 54% of settled income, representing a fundamental source of revenue for the local administration, while 10% of settled revenue comes from capital gains tax returns, property sales and transmissions through inheritance.
Procedures conducted online rose by 15% and payments by Bizum account for 1.9% of the total. Direct debit continues to be the main form of payment, with 64% of payments. As of 31 December 2024, 95.4% of all revenue had been settled.
Improved public support and more electronic notifications
The number of people attended to by the Municipal Institute for Tax rose by 4.6% compared to 2023, rising from 29,492 people to 30,841. Users rated the service with a score of 9.5 out of ten.
As for the management of the institute, electronic notifications accounted for 29% of all notifications, representing a saving of 2.2 million euros.
