Philip Stanton is a North American Visual artist who has been based in Barcelona for more than 3 decades. In that time, he has witnessed and participated in the city's effervescent creative scene as a visual artist, illustrator, designer, author and musician. He’s also a professor and mentor to several generations of today’s leading artists. In this short presentation Philip will share a bit of his creative philosophy, showing some of his own work and highlighting projects made to showcase Barcelona internationally. Hopefully the audience will come away with a few "do's and don'ts" pointers... and a smile. Philip is the creator of our 10th anniversary commemorative T-shirt.

In this session, we’ll present some of the most important transformation projects that will shape the city in the coming years, such as the Olympic Harbour project, which will turn it into a new space with a greater focus on the public; or the re-economisation of the city centre, with the renovation of Via Laietana and the Correos building.

: Barcelona is known for being an inclusive and LGBTI -friendly city, and this is thanks to the efforts of a range of different agents. In this round table, we’ll analyse the inclusive policies of companies, the key agents of social change, and share examples of how the commitment to diversity and inclusion benefits companies and society as a whole. We’ll present the good practice guide published by the Ajuntament de Barcelona with the help of REDI, and we’ll hear the testimonies of LGBTI people who’ll share their experiences.

This workshop will give you a fundamental introduction to Chinese writing. The workshop will be divided into two parts: the theoretical part (formation, style, and tracing of Chinese characters), and the practical part, with brush and ink. It will be aimed primarily at young people and adults, but also children aged 10 years and up can also participate.

Attih Soul is a talented Nigerian artist who has been based in Barcelona for the last couple of years. Attih is a multifaceted person in every sense of the word: he holds a degree in Medical Biochemistry, a double master’s degree in Talent Management and Leadership, and is also a singer, songwriter and acoustic guitarist with more than 10 years of experience. We’ll welcome the early risers with his captivating music.

Sailing might not be the most well-known sport, but it’s the perfect match for all ages and in a city like Barcelona because thanks to our great weather, we can practice it at any time of the year. We’ll take the opportunity to teach you the basics of sailing, explain all the different types of sailing (sailing, windsurfing, kite and surf, dinghy sailing, paddle surfing, and kayaks), and look into the regattas on the Catalan Sailing Federation’s calendar. And above all, we’ll be looking at how to make the most of the America’s Cup set to be held in Barcelona in 2024! You’ll also be able to get up close and personal with the patí català, a typical Catalan dinghy, which will be on display in the garden.

Impressive castells performance to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Barcelona International Community Day. We invite you to discover one of the most spectacular Catalan traditions. You’ll witness the strength, coordination and team spirit of people of all ages as they form spectacular human towers.

Live concert by Irish singer Stephen Cooper, frontman of Fly the Nest, who has performed on many of the big stages and festivals across Ireland, the UK and Scandinavia. This experience, coupled with 10 years as a pub musician, allows him to engage the audience with ease, involving them at every opportunity and making them feel as if they’re part of the show. We’ll enjoy a musical journey of the greatest hits from the 60s to the present day, performed with high levels of energy and passion.

In this open-air workshop, we will show you how to improve your speaking and confidence and where you can find associations that will help you to speak in public in Barcelona (such as Barcelona Activa´s activities and NGO Toastmaster). We are looking forward to your participation at this highly interactive LAB where attendees will work in small groups doing improvisation games. It will be a great and funny networking session because we will constantly be speaking.

Thanks to students from the Sant Pau Jade Taekwondo Centre, with a large representation of Barcelona’s Filipino community, we’ll discover the cultural richness, discipline, concentration, and values implicit in the martial art of Taekwondo. You’ll learn about the uniqueness of Taekwondo with its blocking and counter-attacking moves (Poomsae), self-defence movements and demonstrations of kicking and wood breaking. This activity is organised in collaboration with Casa Asia.

One of the most joyful and contagious musical manifestations of Barcelona is the Catalan rumba. We’ll see it for ourselves with a live performance by Arrels de Gràcia, who’ll make you dance and shake your hips. The lyrics of their songs, both classics of the genre and others of their own creation, celebrate the tradition and the musical and cultural heritage of the Catalan rumba, a legacy of the gypsy community of the Gràcia neighborhood. Relive the best of all possible Barcelonas and celebrate with us the end of the tenth anniversary of Barcelona International Community Day.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary, this year’s T-shirt has been designed exclusively by Philip Stanton, a renowned American painter, illustrator and designer based in Barcelona. The city of Barcelona has been the leitmotiv of much of his work, and he’s created several murals in public spaces in the city. Be one of the first 200 people to arrive and get your commemorative T-shirt.

Children from 5 to 9 years old will be able to participate in the Creativity Art Station, an arts and crafts programme. They’ll stimulate their creativity and artistic expression, and enjoy fun-filled educational activities.

Children over the age of 7 will learn theatre techniques, develop expression and creativity skills, and have the opportunity to showcase their talents in a theatrical performance.

We’ll end the day with a closing party. This will be a time for the whole organisation, exhibitors, partners and activity leaders to toast to our first ten years and take a family photo. Beer and other drinks will be served courtesy of The Irish Old Pub and Italian DJ Lorenzo Cassigol will be playing Chill Out music.

If you speak French, you can take part in video interviews that Equinox, the media par excellence for the French-speaking community in Barcelona, will be conducting throughout the day. We’ll be organising interviews in French inside the venue with different protagonists of the Barcelona International Community Day, who’ll talk about their experiences in Barcelona, a multicultural city full of opportunities.

Under the ‘Barcelona International Community Day: 10 years with you!’ concept, the news agency Catalan News, we’ll be recording interviews for podcasts in English or Catalan with attendees, exhibitors, and speakers.

If you went to work abroad and want to return to live and work in Barcelona, we will explain the tools and resources of the  'Retorn amb oportunitats' programme, an initiative promoted by Barcelona City Council, through Barcelona Activa and the Department of Youth, to recover the young talent that has emigrated in recent years.

We invite you to discover some of the most fascinating spots in the city of Barcelona through an immersive Virtual Reality route. You can visit the modernist Hospital de Sant Pau, and then suddenly find yourself immersed in the vibrant and lively Sant Antoni market. You can admire the calm of Barceloneta beach, or discover one of the most secret laboratories of the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB). And all this without leaving the Barcelona International Community Day grounds.
