On Saturday 23 October, the seventh edition of Barcelona International Community Day will be held. The initiative, organised by Barcelona City Council, is the flagship event for members of the international community who live and work in the city, but also for everyone who wants to connect with this diverse and enriching group.

The fair will not only be a place to welcome newcomers, but also a meeting space providing information, services, new contacts and business opportunities. This makes the day a focal point for international talent, entrepreneurship, ideas and projects from around the world. The city’s international community undoubtedly serves as one of the main assets for its economic recovery.

In 2020, the meeting turned virtual, becoming Barcelona Expat Week due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, the in-person format returns under the slogan Back to (net)work!, with the aim of strengthening the ties and growth of this international community that enriches Barcelona and makes it such a diverse, attractive and open city.

More than 50 activities have been scheduled

Barcelona International Community Day 2021 will open its doors from 10 am to 7 pm, following all health protocols to ensure participants’ safety. There will be conferences, round tables, information capsules, guided workshops and participatory spaces, and it will also feature an exhibitor area and specialized services. Admission will be free and tickets can be obtained on the event website.

The more than 50 scheduled activities will be focused around different areas such as personal landing, work and doing business, enjoying the city and making contacts, entertainment activities and networking. They will also highlight current topics such as self-employment, the professions of the future, public transport or carrying out official procedures.

The fair will host more than 70 exhibitors, which include companies, public bodies and associations, which will be distributed at stands and information points. New for this edition with be the host ambassadors, six people based in Barcelona who will share their inspiring experience.

The event adapts to the context

Some of the new features this year have arisen from the paradigm created by the pandemic. This year, for example, the fair will offer activities in online and hybrid format. The previous week there will be a daily online activity and on the day of the fair you can follow all the scheduled activities live in one of the rooms.

Furthermore, we would point out that the fair will have one mobile vaccination point against Covid-19 stationed outside. This facilitates access for expats, who often experience more difficulty accessing the health system and their information.
