What’s happening in Barcelona in 2025? Eight new cultural and urban developments
The city kicks off the year with a packed agenda of new developments: iconic buildings will unveil new features, historic spaces will reopen their doors, some of the most anticipated construction projects will be completed while others will begin, and there will be new cultural activities... Let the year begin in Barcelona!

1. The construction of the Tower of Jesus at the Sagrada Familia will be completed.
It will be the temple’s central tower and the building’s tallest, reaching 172.50 metres. It will be crowned with a four-armed cross clad in glass and ceramic.
2. The Fundació Miró will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The slogan for the anniversary is ‘For the People of Tomorrow’, with various multidisciplinary initiatives. The first exhibition, ‘Painting the Sky: 50 Years of Fundació Miró Stories’ will open in June.
3. Construction on the Parc de les Glòries will be completed.
The second section of the Gran Clariana will open to the public and offer various spaces, such as seating areas, a garden, a large children’s play area and a dog park.
4. The Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium will tremble with the Guns N’ Roses performance.
On 9 June, Barcelona will host the California band’s only concert in Spain during their tour. Imagine Dragons, Billie Eilish, Marc Anthony, Nathy Peluso, Maluma, Carlos Santana and many more will also stop in the city in 2025!
5. The redevelopment work on the Rambla will continue.
The new Rambla will have pavements 3 metres wide or more, a broader central promenade and one traffic lane in each direction. Traffic will be restricted to public transport, services, goods deliveries and parking access.
6. The Portal de la Pau will reopen its doors to the public.
The restoration of the historic headquarters of the Port of Barcelona will be completed, so it will return to its original structure and reopen as a new educational centre dedicated to the port’s history and significance.
7. The Laberint d’Horta will close in March to begin its renovation.
The project, expected to last around 12 months, will include planting over 2,200 new cypress trees, integrating native vegetation, improving the paving and introducing a sustainable irrigation system.
8. The Metro’s centennial celebration will offer visits to ghost stations.
TMB will offer a year full of activities, including a historic train exhibition, a night-time race along the tracks and visits to abandoned stations that are usually inaccessible to the public.
