The complete programme of Barcelona Expat Week has been unveiled. This initiative will bring together the international community living in Barcelona from October 19 to the 23rd through a new virtual platform. If you’re currently seeking employment and want to improve your CV and skills, you cannot miss the workshops and sessions organized on October 20th and 21st devoted to jobs, training and international talent to receive first-hand tips from HR experts and be able to stand out in your next job interview. Remember that you must register to attend (free registration).
Work and training
Tuesday 20th of October will be devoted to jobs and skills improvement. The day will kick off with Gizem Baykal, senior manager in the international HR company Page Personnel. She will give a workshop through which better understand Barcelona’s job market from an expat point of view and discover which are the most in demand profiles or how to succeed in a job interview. Afterwards, the social media expert Enrique San Juan will give an online workshop on how to seek employment on Linkedin, which will help us navigate the opportunities that arise in this professional network.
In the Meet & Share programme, Barcelona Expat Week will present an online session on training in the digital world by Raul Sanchez from Barcelona Activa and also a capsule on where to learn languages in Barcelona. In the afternoon, we’ll be able to attend a webinar on working from home in Covid-19 times and, finally, a round table on job opportunities in the digital sector in Barcelona moderated by Jordi Arrufi, Barcelona Digital Talent Manager, and with the participation of French host ambassador Ronan Bardet and Adria Baques, from Iron Hack.
Boost your networking skills
The next day, Wednesday 21st October, will be focused on talent without borders, with different sessions on skills and also networking. For example, Javier Terrise of Barcelona Activa will give an online workshop on the most sought-after skills and how to make shine our added value as candidates for a job. Moreover, Victor Horcasitas, director of Barcelona Metropolitan, will share who are the most influential expats in Barcelona and how connect with them and broaden our network of contacts in an online Meet & Share session.
Besides these activities, we have to also underline the opening session on October 19th with the talk by Katerina Psychopaida, from consulting firm Mercer, ‘2020, the year that changed the employee experience forever: opportunities for Barcelona’ where she will tackle the global talent trends and which possibilities they bring to our city. Afterwards, Jaume Collboni, first Deputy Mayor of Barcelona City Council, will explain how Barcelona is positioned in the face of this new scenario born due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the initiatives the city offers to international talent.
Barcelona Expat Week will also offer workshops on the must-do paperwork for expats who just have landed in Barcelona on Monday 19th. In addition, Thursday 22nd will be focused on doing business and on Friday 23rd there will be activities to discover the city and take part in its lively social scene. Looking forward to it!
