Rethinking the Barcelona Brand in times of a pandemic

Barcelona will establish roadmaps to the city’s recovery after coronavirus.

Barcelona will have a common space for joined-up thinking to establish roadmaps to the city’s recovery after coronavirus.

The City Council of Barcelona, along with UPF – Barcelona School of Management, will offer an international webinar called ‘Rethinking the City Brand in times of Covid-19: roadmaps to economic and social recovery’ on July 21.

This open webinar will go through the local initiatives born to face this stage and it will work as a platform to share the strategy to reactivate the local economy created by the Government of Barcelona City. A strategy with a global perspective focused on the future, that wants to create a new city model that is safe, healthy, livable, sustainable, connected, innovative and diverse.

Throughout the webinar, which will last all morning, the experiences of cities such as Lisbon, Oslo, London and Tel-Aviv will also be discussed with global academic experts, who will participate in the conversation.

Mario Rubert, City Promotion Director of the Barcelona City Council, will be in charge of the opening. Oriol Amat, Dean of the UPF Barcelona School of Management, will take over to welcome all participants. Afterwards, Jaume Collboni, Deputy Mayor for Economy, Labour, Competitiveness and Finance, will talk about the city’s strategy to tackle the coronavirus crisis. Next, various international experts will present and debate on the management of the pandemic and how to face the new normality with several question-and-answer sessions. You can check the programme here.

This webinar will gather international city brand experts, such as the acclaimed global advisor on cities Greg Clark, who will share their expertise and point of view regarding the efficiency of the measures to face the coronavirus crisis.

This initiative is part of the strategy on the city reputation, very important at the moment, when it is necessary to reactivate the economy and adapt to the urgent needs arising from the global crisis caused by the pandemic.
