  • What do you need to do?

The right is granted FREE OF CHARGE

IT DOES NOT EXPIRE

It can be applied for at ANY TIME

It can be processed IN PERSON (by prior appointment), ONLINE OR BY TELEPHONE

What is it?

It consists of granting the right to park as a resident in Green Zone parking spaces in the applicant’s residential area. When a vehicle is parked in one of these parking spaces, the relevant fee must be paid using one of the means provided to do so (ONaparcar residents app or parking meter).

Important information

A resident with resident parking rights in the AREA can park in their residential zone once they obtain the corresponding parking ticket from the parking meter or via the Onaparcar residents app. The tax ordinance regulates the rate that will be applied (discounted or full rate).

Holders will also be able to park in other Green and Blue zone parking spaces in the city when they obtain the corresponding parking ticket, either from the parking meter or via the apparkB service on the SMOU app. In that case, the resident parking right will not apply.

The right does not expire and includes all authorised vehicles and the applicable fee.

You can use the link to the official Green Zone website (available in English, Catalan and Spanish).

Who does it apply to?

It is aimed at anyone who has one or more vehicles and who is registered as resident at an address within the limits of the Green Zone in the city of Barcelona.

Who should apply for it?

The application should be submitted by the owner or driver of the vehicle.

What requirements must be met?
Requirements for the person applying for the card
  • Being registered in the Barcelona Municipal Register of Residents
  • Owning, or being recorded as the main driver of, a vehicle with the address of the vehicle registration certificate in the city of Barcelona.
  • Being recorded as the main driver of a vehicle in a company name.
  • Being the main driver of a vehicle under the renting or leasing system or hired long term for more than three months, whether in his or her name or in the name of the company.
Vehicle requirements
  • The vehicle must have more than 2 wheels, must not have more than 9 seats, or be more than 6 metres long or have a maximum authorised weight of more than 3,500 kilogrammes.
    • Vans, SUVs and micro-cars with a moped licence meeting the above technical requirements fall into this category.
Which body is responsible for the formality?

Barcelona Municipal Services (BSM) (Barcelona City Council)

What advice and suggestions could help you?
  • You can check whether the address falls within the limits of the Green Zone on the Green Zone website.
  • Drivers of motorcycles with 2 wheels can park in the residents’ Area parking spaces without buying a ticket or being residents, if there is no room to park in the spaces reserved for motorcycles.
  • Motorcycles with 3 wheels can park in the residents’ Area parking spaces as long as they are not an obstruction and where there is no motorcycle parking nearby. They will have to park in Area spaces as non-residents, as they do not have the right to obtain the card.
  • Resident citizens with a parking permit for their vehicle do not have the right to park at resident rates in the event that they have a courtesy car because their usual vehicle is being repaired.
  • If you use the parking meter, the payment receipt must be put in the car in a place that is clearly visible from the outside. There is no need for any other identification. The slip itself, with the registration number and zone, provides identification as a Green Area resident.
  • The registration number printed on the ticket must always be the same as that of the vehicle.
  • The vehicle can be parked in the same place for a maximum of seven calendar days.
