Route: Plaça de Sant Jaume, Ciutat, Regomir, Ample and Plaça de la Mercè.

Once the Matinades early morning call ends, Plaça de Sant Jaume becomes the meeting point for the entourage of characters known as the Seguici Popular de Barcelona. In its first appearance on the day of La Mercè, the Seguici sets off on a jaunt to the Basilica de La Mercè in the company of municipal officials.

This is the Anada a Ofici, one of the most solemn acts of the local festival. All the characters attend: the Mace-bearing bigheads, the City Giants of Pi and Santa Maria del Mar, the Eagle figure, the Lion figure, the Mule, the Ox, the Dragon, the Wyvern, the Cavallets Cotoners, the Falcons and the stick dance known as the Ball de Bastons del Seguici all accompany representatives from the City Council and make their way to Plaça de la Mercè. When they get to the square, you can see them close up before they start the Seguici de la Mercè, a second stage of the procession which will take them back to Plaça de Sant Jaume.
