Using the languages of circus, music, object manipulation and acrobatic movement, this performance invites audiences to reflect on our impact on the planet and the need to build a kinder, more sustainable world. It also tells the story of the journey waste takes, from its origin in our homes and streets to its final destination in landfills and oceans. This travelling rubbish is transported in plastic bags to waste treatment centres. It flows through water when it reaches the sea, but it also travels by ship when wealthy countries send their waste to poorer ones, where it accumulates in vast, uncontrolled landfills. One of these landfills is called Cateura. It is one of thousands across the world. Every day, tonnes of unwanted waste arrive, refuse that the rest of the planet does not want. And those living near the landfill survive by recycling and sorting rubbish.
