Sixty years of history, thirty albums and more than nine thousand performances lay bare the quality of Els Pescadors de l’Escala, the oldest Habanera and tavern music group in our country. A pioneering group that has received one of the highest distinctions from the Government of Catalonia, the Creu de Sant Jordi, and a regular at the renowned Cantada d’Havaneres in Calella de Palafrugell. These are the credentials of the group that will be performing on the evening of 25 September in Plaça de Sant Jaume and will be closing the programme of habaneras at Mercè 2023.
The performances of Els Pescadors de l’Escala are not simply concerts where they work their way through a repertoire of traditional songs: by alternating slow, soothing numbers with other more animated songs, they hold the audience's attention at all times and transform the Habanera evenings into shows that are even sprinkled with a touch of humour. All to create an atmosphere of harmony and complicity with everyone.
Classic and original waltzes, Catalan folk dances (sardanas), traditional Catalan and Cuban songs, ... Talent, originality, joyfulness, cordiality: these are the attribute of the legendary group Els Pescadors de l’Escala.
