Xarim Aresté: Ses entranyes (2022) (Catalonia; folk/rock)
One of the great voices on the alternative Catalan scene, Flix composer and guitarist Xarim Aresté, has a new release. Three years after presenting his last LP (El nus i altres mons), while exploring plastic and literary art in between – the mark of a complete artist, he is now presenting a brutally sincere album that, in his own words, is “human and imperfect”, with 11 tracks recorded live without any rehearsals. They speak of nature in general and the landscapes of the River Ebro in particular, as well as human and animal instincts, which are in us all. This album, created during the Covid-19 pandemic, was recorded with a jazz band, featuring the musicians who will also be performing with him live at La Mercè: Enric Fuster (drums), Tomeu Garcias (trombone), Joan Garcias (double bass), Pep Garau (trumpet) and Ricard Sohn (piano, organ and synthesiser), accompanied by the guitar, harmonica and violin of Xarim Aresté. Moments of rock, jazz, blues and pop, among other sounds, which confirm that Aresté remains eclectic, but that he is also more mature and transgressive than ever, writing songs of dazzling beauty, including Fresqueta, El que havien escrit, Ja no hi ets, Ple d'amor and, solo with only his vocals and guitar, Pa i peix and Si m’ho diguessis tot.
