La Mercè musical fireworks display

As the city’s local festival draws to an end, the traditional music and firework display rounds off the celebrations. As ever, the event combines a firework display with the lights of the Magic Fountain, music and an eager audience.

This year’s event has been tasked to Pirotècnia Igual and will feature five different music sections. The first of these includes Italian and Roman melodies, reminding us that Rome was this year’s guest city. The second talks to us of women’s empowerment, through music with a feminist perspective. After that, we’ll hear operas to mark the 175th anniversary of the Gran Teatre del Liceu. The fourth section is dedicated to peace, a cry against war all over the world. Finally, there’s a chance to dance out the rest of the event with no let-up, in an energy-charged finale to the city’s annual festival.
