Starting from Plaça de la Mercè.

Route: Plaça de la Mercè, C/ Ample, C/Regomir, C/ Ciutat, Plaça de Sant Jaume (at 12.30 pm, the Eagle’s Dance and the Dance of the City’s Giants), Plaça de Sant Miquel, Pas de l’Ensenyança, C/ Ferran, La Rambla and Palau de la Virreina.

At exactly 12 noon on La Mercè day, a multitude of people fill Plaça de la Mercè, the epicentre of the festival, to enjoy one of the most magical moments of our annual festival. The eight human tower groups build the pillars of honour, the La Mercè bells chime out, the Municipal Band starts to play the first tunes and the Communal Procession sets off. At the start of the La Mercè Procession, an official, solemn and serene street parade takes everyone from La Mercè to Plaça de Sant Jaume.

Taking part in the procession are the Municipal Band, the Macebearer Giants, the City’s Giants, the Cavallets Cotoners, the Eagle, the Lion, the Mulassa, the Ox, the Ciutat Vella Giants, the She-dragon, the Serene Dragon, the Pi Giants and the Santa Maria del Mar Giants, the Communal Procession’s stick dancers and the Falcons de Barcelona (human tower builders). The eight human tower builders bring the entourage to a close.

Once in front of the City Council, the Eagle’s Dance and the Dance of the City’s Giants take place. The Communal procession then carries on its route to Palau de la Virreina, in it’s last outing for this year’s La Mercè.
