Onde
Italy – electric folk
Anyone who’s heard Maria Mazzotta, one of the most beloved voices on the world music scene, knows that a performance by this artist from Salento is a unique and beautiful experience with uncommon depth. Catharsis, strength, despair, loneliness, love and forgetting are all present in the music of this Apulian singer, who brings together the melodies of her own land, the Balkans and Eastern Europe, and even incorporates the electric sounds of post-rock, as we’ll be able to hear in the material she’s bringing to Barcelona.
Her 2024 album Onde fuses her raw performance style with post-rock, resulting in original and intense music rooted in tradition while branching out into the sounds of her adolescence.
Maria Mazzotta made her solo debut in 2020 with the album Amoreamaro and has continued to perform and create new songs, appearing at over 150 concerts in more than 25 countries. She’s now presenting the result of this journey – the discoveries and influences, the emotions and reflections – in music that draws on tradition as a way of exploring modern society.
