Calígula
Pop/rock - Barcelona
This singer/songwriter and producer, whose career has been inextricably linked to the Barcelona scene at its most vibrant, is embarking on a new solo chapter. She’ll do so by bringing together the styles where she’s most at home, an independent kind of music that draws on rock, garage, country, post-punk, soul, power pop and alternative rock, among many other genres, all in an original project that brings the title character, Caligula, to the stage. This story and concert revolve around three themes, three states of mind, three points of view: first, the story of the persecuted prince who is the target of an assassination attempt and who, like singer-songwriter music, exists on the fringes of society. Second, Caligula, the emperor who epitomises the lack of empathy that artists must inevitably face… and finally, Caligula who explodes in an obscene act of liberation, returning to the rage of adolescence.
This is a new, thought-provoking stage in the long career of Myriam Swanson, a poignant, chameleon-like, daring creator. Come see how she’s coming into her own in a journey that takes her from root sounds to independent music.
