"Nakany Kanté: Naka” concert, part of "Mercè Music; African Night"

Nakany Kanté (Siguiri/Barcelona; Afro pop): Naka

She was born in Siguiri, an area in Guinea Conakry close to the frontier with Mali, but in 2009 when she was still very young, she came to Barcelona determined to make music her life. And here she began to mix Mandinga sounds from her native land with pop music. Accompanied by a compact band, she released an album that she performed across half Europe, including several prestigious festivals. Today, with albums such as Saramaya and Naka (considered the best World Music national album in 2016 by the magazine Mondo Sonoro) under her belt, she continues to explore the fusion of African rhythms, always with lyrics that talk about life's experiences or spell out her concern for social issues.
