Dissidence, queer perspectives, and feminism are recurring themes in the BAM programme. These themes take to the festival stage in Plaça de Catalunya, courtesy Música Mercè on Tuesday night. Pussy Riot, a Russian feminist dissident collective, will be performing on stage. Hosted by the ARTISTS at RISK (AR) collective, they have undertaken a residency in Barcelona during which they have prepared a new version of their acclaimed RIOT DAYS show, which they are currently touring worldwide. RIOT DAYS show, as the members of this antiauthoritarian artistic collective say,”‘is not just a concert, it is a declaration, it is our manifesto. It is not just music, it is theatre and resistance! In the name of freedom”- Indeed, more than a show, this is a chronicle of resistance against the repression imposed by the Russian regime and a personal account of the group’s story. The artists you will see on stage are all under arrest “in absentia” in Russia, accused of spreading lies and false information about the Russian army. This latest work from Pussy Riot was created in Barcelona.
