Rome on the screen. Tribute to Ennio Morricone with Le Muse (Italy, 2013; film/music)
C’era una volta il West (1967), Sacco e Vanzetti (1972), The Untouchables (1988), Cinema Paradiso (1989)... All these films and a whole lot more besides have one thing in common: a soundtrack composed by one of the biggest names in film music, Ennio Morricone. Over the course of his career, this musician who died in the summer of 2020 won two Oscars®, three Grammy awards, four Golden Globes and a Golden Lion Honorary Award, as well as 27 Gold and 7 Platinum discs. The show, organised in collaboration with the Barcelona Institute of Culture - ICUB, pays a cinematographic tribute to this maestro in an evening of music and film starring the ensemble Le Muse, an Italian chamber orchestra made up of great female talents, along with pianist and conductor Andrea Albertini. The performers we’ll get to hear include members of internationally renowned groups and orchestras, such as the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and Fenice in Venice. A great musical and visual show which reminds us that, this year, Rome is the guest city at Barcelona’s Festa Major.
