Sun, 15/05/2022

Under the motto " The power of museums ”, the International Day of Museums, which has been celebrated every year since 1977, returns for another year may 18. Organized by the International Committee of Museums (ICOM), DIM is the day when the  museums are the protagonists and open their doors to offer an attractive range of activities and to make visitors and the population aware of its importance in the development of society.

And museums have the power to transform the world around them, to bring about positive changes in their communities. They do this through three axes: sustainability, innovation in digitization and accessibility, and community building through education.

The power to achieve sustainability . As key players in their local communities, museums contribute to a wide variety of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, including fostering the social and local economy and disseminating scientific information on environmental challenges.

The power of innovation in digitization and accessibility . Museums have become innovative spaces where new technologies can be developed and applied to everyday life. Digital innovation can make museums more accessible and engaging, helping audiences understand complex and nuanced concepts.

The power to build community through education . With their collections and programs, museums connect a social fabric that is essential in building communities. They contribute to shaping an informed and committed civil society by defending democratic values and offering learning opportunities to all people.
