In 2019 commemorating the centenary of the death of the master sculptor Venanci Vallmitjana i Barbany (Barcelona, 1830-1919), who together with his brother Agapit Vallmitjana i Barbany (Barcelona, 1832-1905) and his son Agapit Vallmitjana i Abarca (Barcelona, 1850-1915), protagonists of the renewal of Catalan sculpture between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, the Vallmitjana Year is celebrated in which, organized by the Conciliar Seminary and the University of Barcelona in collaboration with other depository institutions of the Vallmitjana legacy, a series of activities will be carried out around the work of these sculptors.
