MUSEUM PRIDE

Once again, various museums across the city will be coming together in June this to reinterpret their spaces and collections from an LGBTI perspective. This initiative, which was launched in 2021 in collaboration with the Barcelona LGBTI Centre, aims to help cultivate a queer perspective in order to highlight realities that up to now have been either under represented or excluded from dominant narratives.

Through exhibitions, guided visits and workshops, a perspective that takes into account sexual, affective and gender diversity in areas such as nature, sport, artistic creativity, is presented.

Participating this year are the Barcelona Olympic Museum, the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC), the Barcelona Maritime Museum, the Museum of Natural Sciences of Barcelona, the Joan Miró Foundation, the Barcelona Centre for Contemporary Culture (CCCB) and the Museum of Archeology of Catalonia (MAC).

The programme will close with a conference at the LGBTI Centre , for exchanging experiences, finding synergies and building bridges between museums, associations and collectives that develop cultural projects with an LGBTI focus.

Below you’ll find details of each of the initiatives included in the “Museum Pride” programme.
