IMPROVING THE CITY'S ECONOMIC ACTIVITY

For many of the city's economic activities, the stoppages and other effects caused by Covid-19 mean that many businesses in the city now need to invest in order to adjust, re-open or adapt, in order to become more competitive, digital, accessible and sustainable, while being able to respond to people’s current expectations about safely acquiring goods and services. 

In order to help with these improvements, Barcelona City Council is allocating a €20,000,000 fund aimed at reactivating and normalising the city's economic activity, for two campaigns:

SUBSIDIES FOR LOCAL-ECONOMY ESTABLISHMENTS (€12,000,000)

Beneficiaries

This call is aimed at legal and natural persons with economic activities in their name located in local ground-floor premises or at street level in the city of Barcelona.

  • Commercial and service establishments in general
  • Restaurant trade or nightlife establishments
  • Tourist accommodation establishments

Types of costs which may be subsidised

Investment and maintenance expenditure aimed at reactivating the economic activity of establishments under healthier and more sustainable, digitised and accessible conditions.

    • Conditioning (painting, furniture, displays, machinery, equipment, workspaces etc.)
    • Acquisition and review of machinery for performing the activity
    • Business signs, other signage and lighting
    • Protective screens, disinfectant mats, bins and trolleys for refuse, cleaning products and disinfectants
    • Changes to ventilation systems and air purifiers
    • Acquisition of IT items, computers, tablets, telephones, servers (except for software)
    • Acquisition of digital communication services: screens, cameras, microphones, etc.
    • Creation and adaptation of website or digital platform for online sales and other services, broader bandwidth, etc.
    • Integration with logistics and distribution operators
    • Strengthening of IT security
    • Adaptation of production systems or service provision
    • Transformation of face-to-face services to online formats
    • Support, advice and skills acquisition services for staff to be able to continue working online
    • Accessibility at the establishment (elimination of steps, creation of ramps, rails, etc.)
    • Elimination of architectural barriers to improve access to all parts of the establishment for people with visual impairment or reduced mobility
    • Changes to the width of doorways, sliding or folding doors
    • Adaptation of changing rooms
    • Adaptation of the height of reception, information and payment counters
    • Adaptation or improvement of WCs
    • Switches at an accessible height, volumetric lighting
    • Installation of thermal insulation systems (outer-wood elements with thermal break and double-glazing, low emissivity and solar control; roof and wall insulation)
    • Installation of efficient heating, cooling and sanitary hot-water-production systems
    • Implementation of energy-consumption monitoring system
    • Conditioning or making improvements for suitable domestic waste collection, separation and management
    • Conditioning, improving and optimising the energy efficiency of lighting and safety lighting
    • Installation of renewable energies

BENEFICIARIES

  • Self-employed people and other business formats (where the owner is registered in the City of Barcelona) who need an establishment for carrying out an activity.

Economic activity owners in:

  • Commercial and service establishments in general
  • Restaurant or nightlife establishments
  • Tourist accommodation establishments

Subsidies of up to €100,000, according to the type of activity and the size of the establishment. Minimum investment of €20,000 in completed or pending projects concerning the establishment's economic activity

  • Conditioning and comfort of the establishment for carrying out the activity
  • Improving accessibility and the inclusion of people with functional diversity in the economic activity
  • Functioning of the economic activity
  • The economic activity's sustainability and equity
