Preparing for Mediterranean flash floods: building in flood-prone areas
"We’re reviving the Conversations on Architecture, an initiative by the AJAC (Association of Young Architects of Catalonia), which were held between 1994 and 1999 at Barcelona’s Cafè de l’Òpera, an open, participatory venue in which ideas, projects and visions of the city were discussed, many of which have since become part of our urban landscape. Over two decades later, we aim to bring back that critical and collective spirit, expanding the reach of the conversations through social media and digital tools. We propose a free, open and participatory space in which to share knowledge, compare viewpoints and envision future perspectives.
For this new edition, we’ll be joined by Lorenzo Correa, civil engineer and founder of the Futuro del Agua (Future of Water) platform, together with Núria Matarredona, holder of a PhD in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV); Jesus Arcos, Architect and Partner at Aldayjover Architecture and Landscape; Rosa Pardo, Urban Planner Architect; Sergio Palencia, PhD in Civil Engineering (Roads, Canals and Ports); and Luz Navarro, PhD Architect at the University of Westminster.
