Dialogue on "la Llei de l’Horta" and other tools for managing peri-urban agricultural areas.
An agricultural space is not only a place for agricultural production; it is a territory with its own dynamics, landscape, heritage, and culture. Urban planning, as its name suggests, focuses mainly on urban areas; therefore, it is not designed for the integrated and multidisciplinary management that agricultural spaces require.
This dialogue aims to disseminate innovative tools for land management beyond local urban planning and to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of these new tools in the context of peri-urban agricultural areas and their particular characteristics.
The event will feature Josep Pérez, an agricultural technician and local government officer, who was involved in the conception and drafting of the Horta Law—an instrument for the management and planning of the Horta of Valencia; and Sònia Callau, board member of SCOT and Head of the Direcció Territorial Agrària in the Àrea d’Espais Naturals i Infraestructura Verda of the Diputació de Barcelona, an expert in the management and development of agricultural land planning and management projects.
