Architectures of the future from the Collserola Tower

"Inhabiting Barcelona 2075" is an exhibition that presents architectural proposals and critical research speculating on the future ways of inhabiting the city. In collaboration with Torre de Collserola, the activity offers the opportunity to visit the building’s observation deck and compare the panoramic view of Barcelona with the exhibition's contents. This experience fosters reflection on the future of housing, allowing visitors to observe a city in constant transformation from above.

The exhibition brings together work developed in the Thematic Workshop on Contemporary Collective Housing, part of the 5th-year Architectural Projects course at the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB - UPC). Based on various hypotheses about 2075, students have crafted speculative and provocative proposals for inhabiting different locations within the city.

Curated by professors Pau Villalonga, Jaime Coll, and David H. Falagán, the exhibition offers reflections on urgent issues such as the use of infrastructures and spaces of conflict, sustainable coexistence with other species and the environment, emerging housing needs, and a critical examination of current living models. Through a variety of materials—research documentation, plans, models, images, and audiovisual content—the exhibition explores themes like climate change, new technologies, biomaterials, transhumanism, and post-natures, and how these factors may shape the architecture of the future.
