Reviving buildings through rural housing cooperative projects

In collaboration with Baürta, a group specialising in the development of collective housing initiatives in rural settings, this session will explore the opportunities and challenges of cooperative housing outside urban environments.

We will examine the key differences between rural and urban projects, not only from a technical perspective—such as regulations and building typologies—but also in terms of socio-cultural dynamics that are often overlooked. How do architecture, public space, landscape, territory, and local culture shape the ways of living in a specific place?

The session will also offer practical insights into how to create thriving, integrated projects that generate a regenerative impact on their surroundings.

Conceived as a conference-dialogue, the event will begin with a conceptual presentation and continue with an open conversation, encouraging participants to share experiences, concerns, lessons learned, doubts, and ideas.
