Places that go with the flow

Roca and the Fundación Arquitectura Contemporánea (FAC) recognize that the connection between water and architecture reflects significant challenges of today and tomorrow.

Kicking off a series of conversations, an event will be held in Barcelona on June 12th focusing on the role of architecture and water in transforming our environments.

This first dialogue, led by Martha Thorne, will explore real possibilities for the transformation and regeneration of urban areas, from both inspirational and practical perspectives.

Water makes life on our planet possible and gives rise to ecosystems and societies. It creates a deep entwinement of territory with forms of social organization, management, and infrastructure, shaping our cultural landscape and forming sources of identity that go beyond merely meeting physiological and sanitary needs.

The importance of water in the construction of our habitat is undeniable. That’s why Roca and the Fundación Arquitectura Contemporánea (FAC) have developed a program that invites reflection—from multiple and diverse perspectives—on the essential role that water and architecture must play in addressing the major challenges of today and tomorrow.

The series ‘Water for all: architecture, the city and society’ launches in 2025 with three events and will be presented on June 12th at the Roca Barcelona Gallery.

Under the title ‘Places that go with the flow’, this first event will focus on the potential of water and architecture in place transformation.
