The Cafè de l’Òpera is an iconic space where every little detail reflects Barcelona’s history. A witness to nearly two hundred years of changes, it has played host to everyone from aristocrats and intellectuals to artists and Barcelona residents looking to enjoy hot chocolate with churros. It opened in the 18th century as a tavern/guesthouse and became a chocolate shop in the 19th century, but it wasn’t until 1929 that it took on its current identity, undergoing a modernista renovation that preserved the elegance of its past. Today, the Cafè de l’Òpera is known not only for its storied history but also as a meeting point where guests can savour some of the finest whiskey in the city while taking a peek back in time.
